Fiduciary Services

  • Probate Estate Administration

When a person dies without a will or trust, the estate is administered much like a trustee manages a trust. In such cases, BFS would be appointed by the court to administer the estate, such as selling real estate, filing taxes, paying bills, and distributing assets to heirs.

  • Trust Administration

As trustee, BFS manages trust assets and distribute assets according to the trust instructions. This includes: managing real estate rentals, working with financial planners for investments, filing tax returns, distributions to beneficiaries as instructed, and providing regular reports to all beneficiaries.

  • Power of Attorney for the Estate

With compassion and empathy, BFS helps seniors manage their personal finances, collecting mail, handling moves, and paying bills. We work hand-in-hand with the POA for healthcare to make sure finances cover the health care needed for those with no local family or whose family cannot attend to the day-to-day details of a loved one’s financial care.

  • Real Estate

For both trusts and estates, we have managed complex real estate transactions with our team of realtors and other vendors. We have managed rentals, renovated properties to rent and sell.

  • Trust Litigation

At BFS we understand that the reason fiduciaries are often needed is due to trust disputes. In all cases, we work with experienced and trusted legal teams to represent the interests of the trust or estate.

  • Advocacy

We pay attention to the seniors under our care and watch for proper treatment from helpers, caregivers, and staff of residential facilities. We specialize in helping seniors transition from independent living to assisted living, with consideration of the trauma that comes with such a move.

Testimonials

  • Betsy Holquist - Client Relative

“One of the best things that our 94 year old cousin did was to hire Susan as her fiduciary POA. In Susan's professional and trusting way she was able to guide and comfort our cousin as she managed her financial challenges. Most important, Susan's patient and kind demeanor alleviated the stress, not only for our cousin in her final days, but also in managing her estate when our cousin passed. We can't thank her enough for all she has done.”
